meet the maker: Robin Sullivan

Sullivan's 7 Blessings

Methuen, MA resident Robin Sullivan's business name is inspired by her 7 grandchildren.

Robin has been crafting her whole life and, like many crafters, has dabbled in a little bit of everything. Throughout her crafting endeavors, crochet has always been the craft she always comes back to. She taught herself how to crochet at age 11, makings items for family and friends. When her grandbabies starting arriving, her love for crochet was renewed. Nowadays, Robin's grandchildren sketch out what they want her to crochet and, from their vision, she creates everything from puppies to puppets.

A teaching assistant for 30 years in North Andover, she loves to share her craft with her students.

"Last year every girl in my classroom wanted to learn so we started a crochet club during recess. I made up little bags with hooks, stitch markers and yarn. I am proud to say that many of them are still crocheting and have become quite good!"

About 12 years ago, Robin started testing patterns for popular crochet designers. One of the designs was even featured in a 2018 edition of Crochet! Magazine.

" I love being part of the process that brings a new design to life."

All her test projects began to pile up so, inspired by her mentor, Jackie Smith of Simply Vintage Crochet, Robin opened up an Etsy shop and also began selling in local shops. Her favorite projects are her custom orders, including Franklin Dragon for the Franklin School.

Robin's creations include baby items, hats for children and adults, drink mittens, scarves, slippers and home decor items but her most popular items are the Amigurumi. She has made custom dolls to look like the child they are for, insects, animals, snugglers and anything else she can dream up!

"Ultimately, this is what I would love to do full time once I retire from the school system. I am that person who needs to keep their hands busy. I love to share and create."
